Solar Roadways – Driving on Glass?

August 18, 2010

I don’t know about you but I’m highly skeptical of all the claims these guys are making: a road that pays for itself, creates enough energy to power the world, can send “smart” and changeable text messages based on real time conditions, has great grip, won’t break under the weight of semi-trucks, won’t glare in driver’s eyes, and will make a delicious cup of coffee for you while you drive. Okay I made that last one up, but it doesn’t seem that much harder to achieve than the rest of the claims.

I hope they are right and this doesn’t turn into a trillion dollar federal money pit of failure funded by the taxpayers if it moves forward, but really, how cool would roads like this be if they work! Driving on glass! What a wacky sounding concept! It’s an awesome idea and shows American entrepreneurship and ingenuity at its finest. I’ll be keeping tabs on this one. How about you?

By the way this is my first attempt at a mobile blog post using the WordPress app for the iPhone. Hopefully it works.

“You will never understand it ’cause it happens too fast
And it feels so good, it’s like walking on glass
It’s so cool, it’s so hip, it’s alright
It’s so groovy, it’s outta sight
You can touch it, smell it, taste it so sweet
But it makes no difference ’cause it knocks you off your feet
You want it all but you can’t have it!”

D.J., Are there any songs you don’t know? For those of you guessing what this obscure musical reference of the day is, this goes way back to 1989…Epic by Faith No More. Great song.
